Cargo Hall is the younger sister of flagship venue, Showtime Events Centre. Reimagined from the ground-up, Cargo Hall was also a former docking shed along the growing South Wharf Promenade. However, since 2013 it has been brought into the modern day with a few clever features and a discreet nod to its previous maritime life.
Directly opposite the Melbourne Convention Centre and the renowned Novotel and Pan Pacific Hotels, Cargo Hall sits in an enviable position amongst a bright hospitality precinct.
The main features of this purpose built venue are evident as soon you walk through its large doors. Entry via the glass conservatory is always a guest favourite as it faces the Yarra River and oversees the Melbourne skyline, running the length of the venues this fully enclosed space is perfect for arrival cocktails, canapes and anything else you might need it for. Fantastic for summer days as the sun streams through or even better during winter nights, looking at the stars while immersed in the warmth of the venue.
Recycled wood is used to great effect on the back venue wall, creating a subtle pattern that adds character while not drawing attention. A feature coloured backlit bar uses stacked bottles behind glass, in reference to the buildings former life. While the internal balcony can be utilised for MC’s speeches, DJ’s, Photographers and more offering a great vantage point over the whole venue.
As a purpose-built venue, Cargo Hall also utilises built-in audiovisual equipment to cater to any event style, whether that be soft spot-lighting for an afternoon lunch or revolving coloured lights for a large cocktail party.
The use of installed curtains running the length of the venue allows organisers to open up the venue with the glass atrium or create distinct areas for the event, adding to the depth and versatility of the venue.
